| New
in the Racing Schedule
New for this season: Class X Series B will be Monday mornings.
On designated Saturday and Sunday mornings the scheduled fleets
will sail back-to-back races. Melges 24s will sail back-to-back
races on Friday evenings.
New
in the Sailing Instructions
The Inland Lake YA has modified its race management procedures
to comply with those of the International Sailing Federation
and LGYC has made the same modifications.
The most significant changes to the SIs for 2003 are as follows:
There no longer will be an attention signal prior to the warning
signal.
The rotation of fleets in the starting sequence will be displayed
on the course board but may be random, at the discretion of
the race committee. Class flags will be used for the warning
signals, and will take precedence over the class rotation on
the course board. This will require sailors to be alert just
in case the RC decides to change the fleet rotation. For example,
if no boats in a given class have arrived in the starting area,
the RC may signal a warning signal for an alternate class.
Likewise, the warning signal for a class that has experienced
a general recall may be randomly inserted into the starting
rotation at the discretion of the RC.
Each boat sailing in classes A, E, C, and X is required to carry
the Lake Geneva letter "I" on her sail with the size
and placement in accordance with class rules.
Course lengths and time limits have been adjusted to accommodate
back-to-back races.
In accordance with RRS 32, the course may be shortened after
the start. |

the efforts of 2002.
Mark your calendar and watch your mail boxes for additional
information.

The regatta will open with a fish fry on Friday evenng, followed
by a continental breakfast the next morning, Saturday afternoon

This Month's Sailing Tip
Check over your boat thoroughly for loose fastenings, worn running
and standing rigging, tears in sails, and make the necessary
repairs. There's no excuse for losing a race because of an equipment
failure.
